I am seeking election as County Councillor for the Willington Hunwick ward of Durham County Council to continue the work I have undertaken in the area over the past 5 years as your County Councillor.

Working closely with my fellow Labour County Councillor, we have achieved a huge amount for the area. By May 2021, all DCC playgrounds in the ward will have been refurbished. Speeding will have been reduced by the introduction of large scale 20mph zones and a ground-breaking Community Speed Watch Van. Environmental improvements delivered. A new CCTV system. Large scale cultural events delivered including Man Engine and Our Willington. New monuments to our heroes. Many local organisations and clubs have been supported together with individuals and groups.

I have been active locally as leader of Greater Willington Town Council since 2013, school governor and representative on the Three Towns Area Action Partnership. I have been an effective representative for the area at County Hall. Looking to the future, funding has been secured for improvements to the area and these now need to be delivered.

If elected I will focus on improvements to the Main Street in Willington and securing more investment into the area through the development of a Masterplan for the Town. There is a continuing need to support those suffering as a result of austerity and the impact of Covid 19. I will continue to work with the police to address anti-social behaviour and speeding and make Willington and Hunwick a better place to live for the entire community.

I want my children to have better opportunities.  Our older people to have more and better services.  I want this area to be a better place to live for everybody.  My family have lived in Willington for 5 generations and we have seen many changes, many outside of our control. If elected, my job will be to ensure that changes in the future are led by the community and will always be for the better. I ask for your vote.
