The Covid-19 crisis will have a profound effect on the UK and global economy.
This free webinar will look at what we can expect from a post-Covid economy and what people need to do to ensure that the response of government is not more austerity and making workers’ pay for a crisis that was not of their making.
We have assembled a top line-up of speakers including: –
Grace Blakely

Grace is an economic and political commentator, journalist and author of Stolen: How to Save the World from Financialisation. A socialist, she opposes financial globalisation, arguing that it concentrates capital into financial centres and leads to unfair trading practices that prevent countries from being able to protect their developing industries. She is a long-time supporter of greater public investment into non-financial sectors to promote economic growth and raise living standards. Grace is a regular commentator on the national and international news media.
Jamie Driscoll

Jamie is the first and current elected mayor of the North of Tyne since May 2019. Driscoll called a climate emergency on the day he was elected and has facilitated investment in the economy to create 2,000 local jobs, funded a non-coercive Working Homes programme to empower social housing residents with new skills, launched a climate change teachers programme in partnership with the UN and put money into rural broadband infrastructure. He has also funded initiatives to get more children into STEM subjects and a youth outreach project in collaboration with Newcastle United Football Club.
