David Toner, Labour candidate for Lanchester, Burnhope & Castleside

I joined the Labour Party at 14 in the 1980’s to try and fight Thatcher and the devastation inflicted upon our community in the Consett area. Like many people in this area, I moved abroad to find work and I worked in steelworks and mines all over the world. I returned to education in my late 30’s and now run a successful business based from my home in Lanchester where I live with my wife and two children.

In March 2020, I was one of the original founders of the Lanchester Covid 19 Support Group this group provides a vital service of delivering food to all who need it.

After generous funding from our local Labour Councillors, our support group was able to deliver food parcels and free school meals to all of the families that attend Lanchester Schools regardless of where they live. I am still delivering for the support group and this will continue as long as the need exists. I have been asked to stand as one of your Labour Party Candidates for the Lanchester, Castleside and Burnhope ward. I want to make a difference in our community and I ask for your support to allow me to do this effectively. Please feel to contact me and let me know what is important to you.
